Data Acquisition Platform

What is it?

MHN's Data Acquisition Platform (DAP) enables the automatic capture and recording of real-time clinical data from a variety of medical monitoring devices.

It leverages cutting edge wireless and security protocols to provide robust and mobile data transfer and storage from a range of legacy and current medical monitors and infusion pumps.

How is data accessed?

Data gathered by the MHN DAP will be provided to existing patient record systems in hospitals, enabling them to provide an up to date, detailed picture of a patient's status. It will also be available through MHN's PDAtrix mobile display platform.

What are the benefits?

Once data has been gathered from a variety of devices, it can be useful to many people in many ways. It is of primary use to front line medical practitioners who can use it to aid in diagnosis and live monitoring of patients, reducing transcription errors and drastically improving data access times.

Those working to service medical monitoring devices will be provided with tools enabling them to rapidly find monitors, observe the usage history and find out whether they are currently available for servicing. This enables smoother and more efficient management and maintenance of existing machines.

The DAP produces a comprehensive audit trail of all monitors connected to every patient and all readings taken from those monitors. This can be used to analyze procurement requirements for further machines, as historical evidence of a patient's treatment, to statistically compare the reactions of patients with similar conditions or used anonymously as realistic training data for medical students.
